Software TrapeziumX-V
TrapeziumX-V is the new, versatile and user-friendly software. It offers a range of modules for different types of tests, including “single”, “cycle”, “control”, “texture” and “spring”. The “single” module serves as a basic module for tensile, compression, bending and peel tests. It also allows the creation of a compensation file that can be used to compensate for machine stiffness during compression tests. It is included in the basic equipment of the AGX-V model series, while the “cycle”, “control”, “texture” and “spring” modules are available as optional additions.
- “Single“: For testing in one direction of movement but with four individually parameterisable segments
- “Cycle“: For cyclic tests with definable ramps or hold times and up to 1000 repetitions.
- “Control“: For individual charging, holding and discharging sequences, as well as loop possibilities with up to 1000 repetitions.
- “Texture“: For texture tests on solid or viscous foods, resins, gels, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics or plastics.
- “Spring“: For the spring tests with hysteresis preload.
Accessories
Shimadzu offers accessories for a wide range of applications. Shimadzu universal testing machines are open for combination with grips, extensometers and other equipment from specialised manufacturers.
Standards
The test standard ISO 6892-1 refers to the testing of metals at room temperature. It is similar but not identical to ASTM E8/E8M. Two different test methods are described:
- Method A describes the strain control mode. A1: closed loop, A2: open loop (requires extensometer).
- Method B describes the tension-controlled mode. It corresponds to the former ISO 10’002.

ISO 6892-2: Elevated temperature test
The general principles are described in the test standard ISO 527-1, while the tests for non-reinforced plastics are described in ISO 527-2. The corresponding US standard is ASTM D638.
