Universal testing machines UH-X/FX
UH-X/FX are four-column testing machines with hydraulic force generation.
The hydraulic universal testing machines are characterised by simple operation, high-precision control of the test and an environmentally friendly and energy-saving design. They are often used in quality assurance and production laboratories for tensile or compression tests in the force range from 200kN to 2,000kN.
Whether static tensile tests, compression tests or bending tests, everything is and can be easily implemented directly on the touch panel or with the optional Trapezium X operating software on the PC. In addition to classic static tests such as tensile tests according to DIN EN ISO 6892 or ISO 527, compression tests according to ISO ISO 604 or ASTM D 695 or bending tests according to ISO 178 or ASTM D 790, cyclic or freely definable test sequences are also possible.
Models of the Shimadzu UH-X testing machines
- UH-X and UH-FX differ in their clamping options. UH-X is equipped with manual and UH-FX with hydraulic wedge clamping devices.
- UH-X, 400V, with or without analogue display, class 1 or 0.5. Models with the following nominal loads:
200kN, 300kN, 500kN, 600kN, 1000kN, 2000kN - UH-FX, 400V, with or without analogue display, class 1 or 0.5. Models with the following nominal loads:

Design
The UH-X and UH-FX universal testing machines utilise a design in which the position of the upper crosshead is positioned in stages on two columns. The lower traverse is then finely positioned by motor on two spindle columns. The sample is then clamped and an extensometer is attached if required.
Properties
The entire assembly consists of the testing machine, leak oil pump, control panel (controller and operating PC) and a hydraulic pump.
The base of the universal testing machine consists of a steel table under which a static hydraulic cylinder is used to generate the test force.
Controller
The UH-X/FX controller is installed in a standing desk and can be supplemented with a large, analogue force display.
An LCD control panel is available for autonomous operation without a PC and software. In addition to the most important operating elements, it offers a live view of the current measurement signals and the measurement curve.
Force measurement
The force is measured via an oil pressure sensor in the machine base.
- Load cells with nominal loads of 10N, 20N, 50N, 100N up to the nominal capacity of the testing machine.
- Accuracy classes 0.3, 0.5 and 1
- Measuring range: from 1/2000, 1/1000 or 1/500 of the nominal capacity up to the full nominal capacity of the loadcell.
Measurement of displacement and strain
The movement of the crosshead is measured with high precision in terms of displacement, position and speed. The high rigidity of the frame plays a decisive role, especially when measuring without an extensometer.
For precise strain measurements, Shimadzu offers a wide range of strain transducers of different technologies. Strain transducers from specialised manufacturers can also be seamlessly integrated.
Accurate strain measurement is of utmost importance not only for the determination of E-modulus, yield and yield strength, but also for precise crosshead movement in strain-controlled tests.
Software TrapeziumX-V
TrapeziumX is a versatile and user-friendly software. It offers a range of modules for different types of tests, including “single”, “cycle” and “control”. The “single” module serves as a basic module for tensile, compression, bending and peel tests.
- “Single“: For testing in one direction of movement but with four individually parameterisable segments
- “Cycle“: For cyclic tests with definable ramps or hold times and up to 1000 repetitions.
- “Control“: For individual charging, holding and discharging sequences, as well as loop possibilities with up to 1000 repetitions.
Accessories
Due to the large variety of specimen shapes and test configurations, we offer a wide range of grips, pressure devices and other fixtures. The samples may also require special environmental conditions during a test. We supply the appropriate ovens and climate chambers from a pool of standard products or according to customer specifications.
