Whether used as a tensile testing machine or a compression testing machine, a Shimadzu AGS-X is very versatile. A wide range of loadcells enables accurate and reproducible measurements.
The frame of this universal testing machine is equipped with an integrated controller that enables measurements to be taken at the touch of a button, even without software.
The AGS-X models are available in the frame sizes 10kN, 20kN, 50kN, 100kN and 300kN.

Frame
The steel frame, the precise spindles and the design of the fixed and mobile crosshead give the testing machine impressive rigidity.
The development of this testing machine focussed on durability and safety. Protective discs reliably protect the operator from splinters, whipping specimen ends and other hazards. From a frame size of 20 kN, an emergency stop button that can be reached by both left and right-handed operators is part of the standard equipment. A special safety feature is the obstacle detection system, which automatically stops the lifting beam. Manually adjustable end stops to limit the movement of the spreader beam are a matter of course and indispensable at Shimadzu. The components used in the frame are designed for durability and have proven their worth.
Controller
The controller is built into the base frame of all AGS models. Only the interfaces are visible from the outside.

Software TrapeziumX-V
TrapeziumX-V is the new, versatile and user-friendly software. It offers a range of modules for different types of tests, including “single”, “cycle”, “control”, “texture” and “spring”. The “single” module serves as a basic module for tensile, compression, bending and peel tests. It also allows the creation of a compensation file that can be used to compensate for machine stiffness during compression tests. It is included in the basic equipment of the AGX-V model series, while the “cycle”, “control”, “texture” and “spring” modules are available as optional additions.
- “Single“: For testing in one direction of movement but with four individually parameterisable segments
- “Cycle“: For cyclic tests with definable ramps or hold times and up to 1000 repetitions.
- “Control“: For individual charging, holding and discharging sequences, as well as loop possibilities with up to 1000 repetitions.
- “Texture“: For texture tests on solid or viscous foods, resins, gels, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics or plastics.
- “Spring“: For the spring tests with hysteresis preload.

Shimadzu offers accessories for a wide range of applications. Shimadzu universal testing machines are open for combination with grips, extensometers and other equipment from specialised manufacturers.
Accessories for use as a tensile testing machine
Wedge or screw-type clamping heads are very often used for tensile tests. If many tests are carried out, pneumatic or hydraulic clamping heads are advantageous.

Compression plates in various shapes and sizes are available for compression tests, as well as devices for bending tests.
