These clamping heads are suitable for high test loads that utilise the self-clamping effect of the wedge.
The sample is held by moving the clamping surfaces in a horizontal direction (clamping direction of the sample). During this process, the clamping surfaces do not move vertically.
This simplifies clamping and also minimises the generation of vertical test forces, which should be avoided as far as possible when clamping the sample for the first time.
When a tensile force is applied, the wedge holds the sample in place.
