Consumables
Sample preparation starts with cutting, and good cutting means a good start
Consumables for cutting
Choosing the right cutting disc ensures freedom from burns and distortion and is the best way to save time and consumables. Correct cutting produces samples that are in perfect condition for the next preparation steps.
Consumables for embedding
After cutting the sample, the next step is embedding. The aim of embedding is to handle small or irregularly shaped specimens and to protect fragile materials, thin layers or coatings during preparation and to ensure good edge retention.
Consumables for grinding and polishing
In order to obtain scratch-free surfaces without deformation, continuous material removal by abrasives is required. Grinding is the next step after cutting. Grinding is divided into two processes: Surface grinding and fine grinding. The purpose of surface grinding is to obtain a flat surface and to remove scale, burrs or surface irregularities from the sample.
