Epsilon - Deflection measuring devices

Deflection measuring devices (deflectometers)

Widely used for measuring deformations in three and four point bending tests, compression tests and a variety of general purpose deformations. These strain gauge-based extensometers are supplied with a magnetic base for easy mounting.

Properties

Model 3540

The deflection is measured using a single arm with an attached spherical contact tip, similar to a dial gauge. The full bridge strain gauge design provides an electrical output that is compatible with any electronics designed for a strain gauge transducer.

The magnetic base supplied with the measuring device can be attached to the desired reference surface, whether flat or round. The tip can then be positioned so that the deformation occurring during the test is measured. The magnetic base can only be used for tests at low and normal temperatures. Tests at elevated temperatures require additional considerations for support.

All models are equipped with a spring-loaded arm that can be released in the event of excessive deflection, thus protecting the bending gauge from damage.

Strain measurement for materials testing

World’s largest extensometer manufacturer. Over 35 models cover virtually every materials testing application.

The combination of years of experience and rugged construction ensures that Epsilon’s extensometers exceed your expectations for performance in nearly any test system controls.

Broadest product line anywhere. Models for tiny and delicate samples, including relatively fine wire, up to massive metal samples and large rock cores.
