Melt index testers presented at K 2025

GÖTTFERT presented new melt index testing devices at K 2025 in Düsseldorf.

At the international plastics trade fair K 2025 in Düsseldorf, GÖTTFERT presented a new generation of melt index testers – and as their official Swiss partner, we are delighted to be able to offer you these solutions with immediate effect.

The new series of melt index testers

Innovation

The plastics and materials testing industry is constantly evolving, and we are delighted to see innovations in testing and quality assurance continuing to gain momentum. At K 2025 in Düsseldorf, the leading trade fair for plastics and rubber technology, our partner GÖTTFERT presented new melt index testing devices, once again underlining its role as a technology leader in the field of rheology and materials testing.

mi1 - Entry-level device

The mi1 is the entry-level device and is also suitable for occasional measurements with smaller weights. Although described as an entry-level device, it offers maximum precision. It can be operated from a PC via the LAN network and a VNC viewer. This means that it is not subject to any software updates. Newly, it can be configured with a touch panel, making it equivalent to the earlier mi2.1 model.

mi2 - Basic unit

Newly, the mi2 is no longer offered in three sub-variants, but there is a clear distinction between the mi1, mi2 and mi3. With its automated weight lifting, it corresponds to its predecessor, the mi2.2. Like the mi1, it is a punch-guided design that reduces operator effort through automatic weight lifting. Like all other devices, it is available with various options and channel materials.

mi3 - Quality assurance

With the mi3, the intelligent piston guide reduces operator influence on the measurement results to a minimum. This is important when small differences in MFI need to be detected. With the mi3, the weights are pre-installed in a magazine and can be selected using the selector lever.

mi40 - Development

The mi40 is the most precise and automated testing device. Like all other devices, it can be equipped with many options. Fully automatic multiple measurements with a single channel filling enable the determination of the flow rate ratio (FRR). In addition, the mi40 has a linear drive that can be used for repeatable pre-compression, for squeezing out residual material, or for creating a small rheological curve. This provides the user with valuable information about the processability of the material.
